## Iconography

## Our brand iconography sits across two different volumes, Branded and Functional.

## Branded iconography

Our branded iconography is a set of simple, abstract icons built from the squircle shape in our logo. Used for branded moments where functionality is not the main priority. These can be used to talk to broader topics and ideas.

## Construction of branded iconography

When creating new branded iconography, there are a few things to consider. The icons should be simple, and created using the core three shapes in our system. Where possible we use the Squircle shape as much as possible.

In places where shapes join, we round the corners to a radius that feels consistent with the shapes in our wider brand system.

## Functional iconography

Our functional iconography is a set of detailed and descriptive icons to use throughout our product experience. There is a repetitive use of the shapes in our symbol throughout these icons linking back to the wider brand system.

## Construction of functional iconography

Our new functional iconography
is an adaptation of our previous icon
set: taking the existing depiction and
re-imagining them with our core graphic shapes. When creating new functional iconography, there are a few things to consider.

Our icons should be created using the
three core shapes in our graphic system, with the squircle taking up the majority of the icon where possible.

We should also bring open spaces into our icons, to ensure they remain legible at small sizes. If this is not possible within an icon, make sure the rest of the design remains as simple as possible.

## Iconography examples

This page shows some in use examples for both our branded and functional icon sets.

## Branded icons on light backgrounds

When using light colored backgrounds, we use our icons in black. We never use any of our other colors.

## Branded icons on dark backgrounds

When using dark colored backgrounds, we use our icons in white. We never use any of our other colors.

## Icons don’ts

To make sure we are using our icons in the right way, there are a few things to avoid.

- Don’t use functional icons at large scale.
- Don’t use our icons in colors other than black or white.
- Don’t use both icon styles in the same communication.
- Don’t use icons over art direction.
