For many Bippers, that mix is exactly what makes Sarajevo special. As Ajša Terko, Senior Software Engineer, puts it, “The idea that I could help build products used by millions of people worldwide, right here from Bosnia and Herzegovina, was what convinced me to apply.”

## Building Voice for real-world use

For Adnan Elezović, now a Staff Engineer in Voice, Sarajevo has been a place where responsibility expanded naturally as the platform grew.

He joined Infobip in 2021 as a Senior Software Engineer, initially focused on WebRTC. At first, his work sat within a relatively narrow product scope. Over time, that changed. As the product area expanded, so did the complexity of the work, and his responsibilities began spanning multiple products and teams.

“One thing I appreciate about Infobip is that there’s rarely pressure to hit some artificial deadline. We have the liberty to optimize for quality, and that’s what sold me on the company in the first place.”

Today, Adnan spends less time writing every line of code himself and more time clearing the path for others. He gathers input from product, proposes architecture, aligns with the team, and makes sure the technical foundation is sound before work moves forward.

He describes part of the job as knowing the platform and the technology well enough to shape the roadmap, not just receive it.  He’s responsible for surfacing constraints early, helping product make informed calls, and making sure the team is building in the right direction.

One of the clearest examples of that ownership came through a major redesign of a media multiplexing engine. The existing system had been built for a much smaller purpose, and over time it had become a blocker for new features. It could not support bidirectional streaming. Its routing logic was too rigid. Lifecycle ownership was split in a way that created race conditions.

Rather than patch around the edges, Adnan helped rework it into a directed audio graph. That change did more than fix a technical problem. It unlocked new possibilities, including bidirectional audio and future AI voice use cases, while also improving reliability across the platform.

For Adnan, that is where deep technical knowledge and collaboration come together. Strong ownership, he says, is what makes other teams trust and value the work.

“The thing I’m most excited about is building out the platform into a great collection of building blocks, so that anyone can assemble whatever voice product they want on top of it.”

## From intern to senior: Growing with the hub

Ajša Terko’s story shows another side of Sarajevo: the opportunity to grow from the beginning and keep growing.

She joined Infobip as an intern just over seven years ago, at a point when she was finishing an Erasmus exchange in Czechia and deciding what came next. What drew her in was the chance to work for a global tech company and build products used by millions, all while staying close to home.

“What keeps me motivated is the constant opportunity to learn and take on new challenges, along with working alongside talented people who make every day enjoyable.”

Ajša began her career on internal monitoring and alerting tools, which gave her a strong foundation in research, requirements, and approach testing. Soon after, the Sarajevo office shifted its focus more heavily toward Voice, and she moved into WebRTC and business WhatsApp calls. It was a new area for her, but one that gave her room to learn quickly and take on more responsibility.

Over time, her role expanded from smaller engineering tasks to larger initiatives. She also stepped into opportunities outside her day-to-day work, including speaking at internal DevDays conference, mentoring interns, and taking part in the interview process.

One of the biggest milestones in her journey was becoming an internship mentor herself. Having started in that same position, being trusted to guide the next generation made her see how far she had come. It also gave her a chance to pass on what she had learned.

“The best part about the Sarajevo hub is its accessibility. You’re surrounded by experienced engineers who are always happy to share advice and discuss ideas.”

Engineers with deep real-time communication experience are close by, and the culture makes it easy to ask questions, challenge ideas, and learn from people with more experience. That combination of support and honest discussion helps people grow faster and with more confidence.

## AI, mathematics, and learning by doing

For Amar Kurić, the path to Infobip came through a mix of academic curiosity and the chance to solve problems at scale.

After finishing his bachelor’s degree and beginning his master’s, he was recommended for Infobip’s AI team by a former teacher who had taught him mathematics in high school and at university. The introduction led to conversations with the team, and Amar quickly saw what made the opportunity special. This was a place where AI work was connected to a serious product and a serious amount of scale.

At Infobip, Amar works with large volumes of data from messages and calls, looking for patterns that can improve traffic, optimize delivery, and enhance audio quality. His work sits at the intersection of data, signal processing, and applied AI. It is technical, practical, and tied directly to how the platform performs.

“It’s one thing to build a system that processes 100 messages daily; it’s completely different to make that system process 100 million.”

His background in competitive mathematics continues to shape how he works. The discipline taught him how to abstract away noise, define problems clearly, and apply familiar tools in new ways. It also taught him not to fear hard problems.

That mindset has carried into his work at Infobip, especially in situations where the challenge is not just building a model, but making it efficient enough to run in real time.

Amar also coaches and mentors young mathematics talent, which has strengthened one of the most useful skills in any technical environment; the ability to see things from the listener’s perspective. In his view, that skill helps not just in teaching, but also in mentoring colleagues at work.
